Emerald Republic | Illustration | Mural | Brand Support
Emerald Republic is an esteemed brewery in downtown Pensacola that embraces a brand identity inspired by the elegance and allure of a Japanese water dragon. Drawing inspiration from classic anatomical illustrations, I crafted a stunning representation of the dragon that the brewery used to adorn apparel and their distinctive beer cans.
In addition to illustrating their key image, I designed a special-edition beer can for Valentine’s Day that added a touch of romantic allure to the brand. After finishing the Valentine’s Day can, I collaborated with a local brand to produce illustrations for an entire six-pack unit that created a visual narrative to captivate consumers by reflecting the essence of the brand.
At the Brewery’s inception, a majority of the team were women. To recognize their invaluable contributions, two additional apparel designs were developed to showcase imagery that featured a brewer witch and a lady robotic zombie. These designs served to highlight the brewery’s commitment to inclusivity and empowering the remarkable women behind its success.
The Emerald Republic aesthetic draws inspiration not only from the water dragon but also from popular culture. The inspiration led to the painting of two murals that pay homage to iconic franchises including Star Wars and John Wick. Of course, their style matched the brewery’s ambiance to create both familiarity and excitement. In addition, the owner’s dog was incorporated into the John Wick mural to add a personal touch and elevate even further the connection between the brand and its loyal patrons.
All of the creative initiatives for Emerald Republic solidified the brand as a visual masterpiece by intertwining Japanese mythology, popular culture references, and personal touches to create an enchanting experience for both beer enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
